Karuna grant Spring 2018
The Karuna Grant Program will provide financial support to members of any WOSM registered National Scout Organisation or WAGGGS registered organization.
The recipient will be a motivated youth, patrol, unit or group, who with the help of their Scouting/Guiding experiences have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and a desire to create a better world.
As they progress through life, these skills will be carried with them as they become successful adults in the community.
Karuna Badges sees this grant program as an investment in the lives of the future leaders of tomorrow.
Karuna Badges is pleased to award £500 on March 20th, 2018 to use in a project that will continue to exemplify Scouting or Guiding Values.

how to apply
All applicants must complete the application form and compose two statements, no more than 500 words each, the first one on the value of Scouting/Guiding in your life, and the second on how do you intend to use the money from the grant (must be a project related to Scouting/Guiding). Applicants must also provide two letters of reference (only one from within Scouting/Guiding), if applicant is underage in their respective country a letter of authorisation from the guardian or parent must be included as well.

- Groups (Letter of reference must be from Chief of District/County or NSO)
Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:

- Demonstrated Scouting/Guiding history, involvement and achievement;
- Leadership contributions to Scouting/Guiding;
- Community leadership and contributions outside of Scouting/Guiding;
- Attitude and aptitude
Conditions
The grant will be awarded only after Karuna Badges has received adequate notice that the applicant has started the project for which the grant is intended. Grant funds will be then be forwarded to the NSO or Group leader to be applied to the project. If the applicant withdraws from the project, the remaining monies will be returned to Karuna Badges.
Recipient are expected to continue involvement with Scouting to every extent possible, and must be a currently active and registered member of National Scout Organisation or WAGGGS
Recipient agrees to do a full report on the outcome of the project which must include a written statement and photographs as well as any media publication that the project receives.
Recipient must agree to have their names and photographs published in conjunction with the award, and with any promotion of the awards.

Terms and conditions
- The Grant is open to all registered scouts or guides of a recognised NSO/WAGGGS and all age groups.
- Karuna Badges assumes that by using the website you are aged 18 or over or, if you are under 18, that your parents have consented for the use of this website.
- The closing date is as specified as February 20th, 2018 , entries sent afterwards will not be considered.
- Proof of sending post/email/SMS, making a phone call or completing an online entry, is not proof of our receipt of your entry. No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost, delayed or damaged.
- Courier service with signature upon delivery will be considered as receipt of your entry.
- Entries not submitted in accordance with the rules or incomplete or illegible entries will be disqualified.
- No purchase is necessary.
- The recipient of the grant will be formally notified (by email, post or phone) within 21 days of the closing date. Full details of the release of the grant will be coordinated with recipient and NSO or Group Chief.
- The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into by Karuna Badges in relation to that decision.
- The grant is as specified in the rules. No alternative prizes may be requested although Karuna Badges reserves the right to alter arrangements should this be unavoidable.
- Karuna Badges will not be liable for any damage, loss or disappointment suffered by any person taking part or not being able to take part in the Grant.
- It is a condition of entry that the Grant recipient consents to their name to be published on the website for at least 14 days after the closing date.
- Use of false name or address, e.g. name by which the entrant is not usually known, will disqualify them from receiving any prize. Karuna Badges reserves the right to oblige any potential recipient to provide documentary proof of their identity and address as directed by Karuna Badges before such person may claim the Grant.
- We will not keep your personal details after the grant has been awarded, all documents will be destroyed and disposed accordingly.
- We will not pass your details to any one.
- We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time. By submitting your documents all candidates will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the rules and by any other requirements set out.
- Winners may be requested to take part in promotional activity and Karuna Badges reserves the right to use the names , their photographs and audio and/or visual recordings of them in any publicity.
- Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with current Global data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual’s prior consent.
